Drew Brees’ arm strength a factor in Brandin Cooks trade, report says

As Brandin Cooks prepares to face his former team, some light is being shed on his surprising offseason trade.

The Patriots wide receiver, who was sent from New Orleans to New England in March for the No. 32 pick in this year’s draft, dealt with a number of aggravations with the Saints prior to being traded.

Per NFL Insider Ian Rapoport, his quarterback’s arm strength was one of those issues:

According to multiple sources informed of the situation in New Orleans, Cooks was dealt because of a combination of his unhappiness with his role, his doubts that aging quarterback Drew Brees could get him the ball deep, the Saints’ frustrations with Cooks Vintage MLB Jerseys Cheap focusing on his numbers Victor Cruz Cheap Jerseys and their disbelief he should be paid like a top receiver.

It is unclear what Cushing has tested positive for, but his suspension in 2010 came for what he called a “a non-steroidal banned substance.” He appealed but his punishment was upheld.

Cushing, who was drafted by the Texans with the 15th pick in the 2009 draft, was already scheduled to miss Thursday’s game with the Bengals due to a concussion.

The former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year has amassed 421 tackles, 240 assists and 12 sacks in his nine-year NFL career.

“Brian Cushing regretfully announces he has been suspended for 10 games commencing on September 13., 2017. In so doing, he is aware of the negative impact he has had on his team and most important his fans. It is with the deepest remorse that he humbly apologizes to his fans, teammates and coaches. After consulting with his attorney and agent, he felt that rather than dragging the appellate process out, this would be the best way to proceed.”?
